     I will never get tired of see these pictures that are being posted, mostly on Facebook, of GeoWoodstock X.  They inspire me to be focused and start planning today for next year's event in Lakeland, Florida.  Who's gonna be there?

 

 

 I will be looking for a story from this guy.  I believe his name is Bill Waller.  I was excited when I reached 200 caches.  What must it feel like to have 7000 under your belt?  Amazing !

     Not too bright is the only way I can describe myself right now.  I had been googling GeoWoodstock X and Sellersburg, Indiana,  thinking that maybe I would be able to some kind of story about what is happening at the event - to no avail.  SchnauzerQueen came to my rescue and told me that they have a facebook page with event info and pics.  So there I went -  And now I will share some of what I have found.

  This sign looks so impressive.  Looks like the kind of hill you could roll down.  Well, if you are into rolling down hills.  I like to do that.  That's what I tell everyone so when I fall down it looks intentional.

Signal the Frog made it to the GeoWoodstock X event.  Looking dapper as always.  I bet he loves this area with all the lakes, ponds and rivers.

GeoWoodstock Is Happening - Without Me

     I can't believe that I am not going to make it to GeoWoodstock this year.  I had so thought it would be perfect.  There's lots of family-in-laws that live there that I haven't seen in years and there are a couple of nieces just a couple hours away from this location also.  But alas - I will staying in the heat of Arizona.  And to make it all worse, my niece, SchnauzerQueen, is staying home also.  I was really counting on living this event thru her.  Oh well, maybe next year it will be closer or I will be better prepared.

Hello from the GeoWoodstock X Team

Wow! It is FINALLY time we can tell our geocaching friends that GeoWoodstock X will bring the event back to its roots. The 2012 event will be held on the Sunny Side of Louisville in Sellersburg, Indiana.
One would be hard-pressed to find another location as rich in GeoWoodstock history as the Louisville/Southern Indiana area. From the very first GeoWoodstock held in Louisville, area geocachers have always been a part of GeoWoodstock history.
From its inception, many of the area geocachers have followed GeoWoodstock across the nation year after year. Of the original 75 attendees, 24 are InKy (the Southern Indiana/Louisville KY geocaching group) members. Of the Elite Eight, those who have attended all GeoWoodstock events, four are InKy members.
Three of the four event organizers have attended many GeoWoodstock events and understand the enormous preparation and background work entailed in putting an event of this size together. Organizers have supported GeoWoodstock from its inception. Three were attendees at the first GeoWoodstock held in Louisville, Kentucky. Two have attended all past GeoWoodstock events. Another has attended seven GeoWoodstock events and managed on-site registration at the first GeoWoodstock I and VII. Our fourth member attended his first GeoWoodstock in Warren this year.
The GeoWoodstock X Team hit the road running as soon as we were awarded the bid. Plans are locked in place for venues, events, food and lots more. Follow us on Facebook for updates. We will be pushing out news a little at a time so check back often.
But, what is GeoWoodstock and what can you expect? GeoWoodstock is the world's largest geocaching event but most of all it is FUN! It is a laid back social event. It is an opportunity to meet cachers from your region and around the world. Rub elbows with new cachers, geocaching legends, extreme cachers, geocaching vendors, lackeys … well, you get the picture. Everyone will be converging on Sellersburg, Indiana to celebrate the 10 anniversary of GeoWoodstock.
Come celebrate the 10^th annual GeoWoodstock. Spend the day socializing or spend the week touring our fabulous region. It's all up to you. 

   
     I love the fact that Sellersburg, Indiana is welcoming the cachers.  When I read this restaurant's menu, my mouth watered and I almost
changed my mind about making the trip.  Can you believe - it is so different in the Midwest.   I believe we should credit to those who support the cachers.

 Enough about food -
Since I have never been to GeoWoodstock, all I can do is show you a bit from the past events.  After this event, I will bring you a story or two from fellow cachers who were lucky enough to attend.

     Well, I'm throwing my pennies in an ammo can and going to practice this time management thing.  Just maybe I will make it next year.  In the mean time, watch next week for some stories from GeoWoodstock X.

Guest Writers Welcome

     In the beginning, that would be the blog beginning, my goal was to post a couple times a week and also to have guest writers.  I have very little caching experience so I am limited with my stories.  The gypsy in me want to be on the road every month traveling and hunting down new caches.  But, not quite able to do that, just yet. 

 

     Much to my surprise, I am not Super Woman. I have a business to run and other sites to maintain, a family that consist of sibling, kids, grand kids, great grand baby, grand dogs, a home and a garden and a few friends, etc.

  - and no matter how hard I try, I can not make my days 48 hours long.  Believe me, I have been trying.  So I went in search of guest to share their experiences and a few
have come through.  you can look forward to some great
stories and videos.

    To start with - I want to introduce you to Joshua Johnson, also known as Mayberryman in the caching world.  I met him through my niece who connected with him through Facebook.  I have yet to meet Joshua in person but from what I can see from his profile, he is a super guy.  He takes the entire family, including three young kids, on regular caching adventures.  You will see from his future videos that he lives life, and caching, with great enthusiasm.

"This was one of the final caches I found to complete the 366 calendar day challenge, before leap day. The cache just happened to be a night cache. It was a little spooky as I was in the dark looking for reflective tacks in the woods."

TB Dogs - love them

     As a lover of dogs, this is one of my favorites when it comes to caching.  The Travel Bug Dog.  I had read about them and seen a few pics on sites but when attending the Yuma Event #9 in February 2012, I got to meet my very first TB dog.  And my second.  And my third. 

 

     SchnauzerQueen, WeenieQueen and I headed out on the Poker Run  and ran into Tiger, a beautiful and so well behaved pup.  It was obvious that Tiger was as excited to be at the event as we all were.  Later in the day we saw that her owners, Cwolvs,  had come equipped with her own little pop up crate so she could chill out in style.  

     Next up was Serang Nanake.  WeenieQueen and I headed out to meet a couple who had a lot of memorabilia, and willing to let their fellow cachers thumb thru their scape books full of photos, newspaper clippings, coins, tags, and more.  And there she was, the little Serang Nanake.  Our interest shifted quickly from memorabilia to the pup.  She is a petite little thing, comfortable with these busy surroundings even tho she is blind.  Yep, totally blind.  At first a little tear comes to the eye just seeing her there, not able to see the beauty of her surrounding.  That doesn't last long, not even long enough for the tear to fall,  when you see the confidence she has and the ability to be social with all these strangers and enjoy herself.  Great little girl. Her owners, Rainbirds, told up the meaning of her name but for the life of me, I can’t remember.  Darn.  Tho we adored this pup, her owners were a couple of the neatest and most knowledgeable people at the entire event.  Love them.

     Again, WeenieQueen and I went in search of interesting people and photo ops.  We found our TB Dog number 3.  Spikester, a long hair Chihuahua, was in the arms of one of is owners, Bronco Busters.  Again, a super neat dog; it was a little later in the day and I think he was ready for a nap. 

     Here's my thought.  My partners in crime, when it comes to Geocaching, are WeenieQueen and SchnauzerQueen.  They each have two dogs, who they love dearly, consider their children, thus their caching names.  So - Why no TB Dogs in my group?  This is an issue I believe needs to be addressed.  I will ask each of them and share their response. 

     And then it will be time to figure out TB Vehicles.
