DrSolly Gets Great Numbers On IGD

      A great accomplishment for DrSolly of Amersham, United Kingdom, on International Geocaching Day.  Here's how it went in the words of DrSolly himself.

Tollesbury, Essex

Today I did 54 caches over 32 kilometers.

I parked in a handy spot, loaded up the bike and set off for the morning loop of 24 caches. I got back to the car at about 1:30 and had lunch, another bottle of water (it was really hot today),  a change of battery for the bike and a recharge of the Loox.

Then I set off on the second loop, got back to the car, changed battery again, and went round the third loop. These aren't loops that the cache owner set, it was just me finding a route that would be as short and easy as possible.

Along the way, while on the road, I encountered the remains of a minor accident. A box of drill bits had fallen onto the road and shattered, there were bits of plastic and drill bits lying there, a potential hazard. I tidied up, and I'll be keeping the drill bits - I was thinking of buying new bits anyway, because my current ones are getting a bit blunt. These are Black and Decker, so hopefully they'll be good quality.

Towards the end of the day, I encountered this:

Yes, it's a ferret. On a lead. The lady said that she was training it, but she was still having trouble with it biting. I've never seen a ferret on a lead before.

A True Geocacher

     It's International Geocaching Day and so many of us have been looking up events on Geocaching.com to attend.  And how exciting that we get a little bonus for attending. Then you have the Coombs family of London, United Kingdom who made a plan to celebrate the day with their own plan.  Not concerned about the recognition or the numbers or the event bonus, they made it a great family day of caching and play.  Dave Coombs says that they had gotten away from caching for a while but jumped right back in with this weekend of geocaching, kite flying and fun in Sumners Pond.

Oh Those Brits!

      International Geocaching Day is just that.  International.  In my searching for World wide events I found this information from Sam.  Sam told me of his plans a few days before the big day and it did sound interesting.  He would be involved in a flash mob (GC3R4VX)

where the participants would be wearing pants on their heads.  OK - weird but absolutely the kind of event that gets my attention.  I love anything out of the norm and not bubbles.

     The IGD comes along and good ole' Sam adds a photo to his Facebook page that I get to use.  Ya know the saying - "One picture is worth a thousand words"?  This is very true here.  I am either very naive or I just couldn't picture, in my head, the good residents of Maidstone having this much fun.
