Creepy & Scarry Videos to Make You Jump

I found a few videos that are actually sort of creepy, but not as many as I thought I would find.  It doesn't have to be the month of Halloween to enjoy these, but with winter closing in and the day time hours loosing out to the night, it is a good time to check them out.

I have to start out with my favorite Geocaching Vlogger, Joshua Johnson.  Will you scream when you watch this vid?  Oh yeah !  You will scream with laughter.

This video may not scare the pants off of you but with a little imagination, you will see how it could, on a dark and foggy night. 

Geocaching pioneer and video game designer Richard Garriott, Lord British, pushes the envelope again with the creation of the Mystery Cache Necropolis of Britannia Manor III (GC2B034). The journey leads geocachers through what Lord British describes as eight chapters on "The Guardian's Quest."

 There's a couple of fun ones for you.  I am sure that I will share more soon.  And of course there will be more actual graveyard caches to share also.

Apple Annie Maze

Apple Annies is a great place to take the family for some good ole' fashion produce picking.  They have all sorts of veggies, melons, fruit and at the stores, you may be able to pick up some apple bread right now.   Best of all is that this time of the year there are pumpkins, hay rides and a maze.  They are  celebrating Arizona's centennial with a great Arizona map maze. 

 

Get this - 

The maze is open daily from September 29 to October 31;  9 am to 5:30 pm. 

It's 15 acres of corn with over 6 miles of pathways and has 3 levels of difficulty.  Thanks goodness they have interactive "passports" to help you find your way. 

To find your way to the area, start out in Wilcox, Arizona.  For cachers that would be about  N 32° 21.703 W 109° 53.206, and follow the map below to the orchard.

If you want to make a really big day at the farm, go early and catch the "All You Can Eat" pancake breakfast served from 8:30-10:30. Or enjoy the Apple Smoked Burger lunch served from 11:30-4. 

So now that you have heard about the pumpkins, food, maze, hay ride and all the fun, I guess I should say (since this is a caching site) that there are some great geocaches right along the roads in the area of the farms.  But of course there would be.  Here is a map with just a few.

The weather is good, the food is great and the caching will be fun.

Catcott Circle -

I have run across a cacher from Swindon in Wiltshire, with a blog I really like.  He includes beautiful photo, along with super maps and descriptions.  So I have asked if i could share some of his stories and he graciously agreed.  I pick this first story for a couple of simple reasons - I like the photo of the cows.  And I like the photo of the old car.  A couple of things I enjoy.  Story is great too.

   Catcott Circle

Catcott Circle, 19 Caches, 4 Miles, Somerset

After completing the Aschcott Circle in the morning I moved onto the Catcott Circle which starts and ends at Shapwick but heads north east to Catcott does a loop and returns along the same path.
If you want a full days caching trip, this can be combined with the Ashcott Circle or done as two separate trails as I did. So, a short drive up the road after lunch to Shapwick where there was amble roadside parking.
The first part of the trail was a walk along a quiet lane before turning onto a farm track and then cross country (beware of cows) to Shapwick across open fields. Out of the two series I much preferred the Ashcott Circle, but this was a nice accompanying series to it.

I managed to avoid this field of cows which were getting very impatient waiting for the farmer to take them for milking. I think the actual footpath would have taken me through the field but with a dog in tow, I decided best to take a detour.

At Catcott village I passed several vintage cards being washed and cleaned, I assumed they had been out at weddings earlier in the day.

The first part of the trail was a little unexciting but towards the end of the trail there were several good views across the countryside as I headed back into Shapwick.

China Again - Is China Dangerous For Cachers?

     A couple of my kids travel to China for business.  My son recently started caching with his family.  When I saw a post about the dangers of geocaching in China, it caught my eye.

     Just so you can see a bit about what may be a huge problem, I have copies just the front page of forum.  You can see where my worries come from.

     My first thought is - who approves the caches in China.  Do they take safty into consideration?  Is caching that much different there?  I am hoping to find more info and perhaps get some response from geocachers who have traveled and cached in China.   You can be sure that I will do an update as I learn more.
