Geocaching Videos Favorites From 2013

What better way to start the year than with a couple of videos from cachers, starting with this little video from Joshua Johnson, the World famous Geocaching Vlogger.  He does an amazing job with his own videos. Certainly the right person to put together a little collection to share.

Joshua is a true family guy and pushes his limits a bit with his sharing of  GeoPat92's  little bit from a 'naked geocache', on his Best Geocaching Videos of 2013.  Never fear - he maintains his G rating by limiting what is shown.  It is guaranteed to add a chuckle to your day.

Also on the vid is little bits from Mark Wereley who documented an amazing cache. And GeoDave, who is a new Vlogger  who is extremely entertaining and Frederick from Sweden, who is an award winning video cacher.

Joshua also has a great video that covers InternationalGeocaching Day in Seattle, where there was a Geocaching Block Party, with thousands exciting of cashers. I love that he spreads himself around and does interviews with lots of individuals, from all over the country.

I have been a fan of WarCat for the past couple years.  When I think extreme geocacher, I think of this guy.  I guess I live vicariously thru him, as he does the caches that only dream of ever doing.  I don't have a fear of heights or caves, but it just isn't physically possible for me.  Take a look at a couple of  WarCat's  adventures.

WarCat really knows how to put on a show. Not only are his caches amazing, but the photography and the music are amazing too. To top it all off, he goes for the cache and really doesn't reveal where it is hidden. Bet you noticed that when he was repelling off the bridge and thru the tree limbs.  I am wondering if he mostly caches in France.

And just a couple more that are from 2013 (the cache may have been found in 2012 but vids popped in, or close to, 2013) that are pretty neat.  One from Columbia that looks like something I would like to add to my Geocaching Bucket List. Not only is it interesting but such a beautiful area. About as different as it could be from the dessert that I live in. You'll love this adventure.

And just one more that is super neat. It's a bit long but well worth it. If you have never been caching in the South of Wales, you will definitely enjoy. What a way to celebrate a birthday.

These vids should inspire you to make big plans for your geocaching in 2014. Invite friends and take family - make it an unforgettable year.  And by all means - please share your stories.

Creepy & Scarry Videos to Make You Jump

I found a few videos that are actually sort of creepy, but not as many as I thought I would find.  It doesn't have to be the month of Halloween to enjoy these, but with winter closing in and the day time hours loosing out to the night, it is a good time to check them out.

I have to start out with my favorite Geocaching Vlogger, Joshua Johnson.  Will you scream when you watch this vid?  Oh yeah !  You will scream with laughter.

This video may not scare the pants off of you but with a little imagination, you will see how it could, on a dark and foggy night.
Geocaching pioneer and video game designer Richard Garriott, Lord British, pushes the envelope again with the creation of the Mystery Cache Necropolis of Britannia Manor III (GC2B034). The journey leads geocachers through what Lord British describes as eight chapters on "The Guardian's Quest."

There's a couple of fun ones for you.  I am sure that I will share more soon.  And of course there will be more actual graveyard caches to share also.

International EarthCache Day

Don't forget to get out there and celebrate this day.

Here is what Geocaching.com has to say -

Celebrate International EarthCache Day – Geocaching.com
Weekly Newsletter

Explore the Secrets of the Earth

Join the International EarthCache Day celebration on October 14. Each EarthCacheteaches visitors about the playground all geocachers enjoy – the earth. An EarthCache takes adventurers to a unique site showcasing geological features. Simply discover and log an EarthCache, or attend an EarthCaching event, this Sunday to take part in the worldwide movement.

EarthCaches can reveal why a giant boulder came to rest in the middle of a prairie or how a river flows in two opposite directions in one day. Instead of finding a container at an EarthCache, geocachers learn and report their geology discovery to log a smiley.

There are now more than 14,000 active EarthCaches around the globe. Go to the official Geocaching.com Facebook page to share your International EarthCache Day experience.

And I found this little vid to help explain it, just in case you are like me and have never participated in this day.

I will head out and see what I can find.  I will also be searching for a few folks who have done their EarthCache for the day.  I am hoping that Joshua Johnson will have a fun video of his day.

Check back later to see what I can find.

Joshua Johnson in Blue Earth, Minnesota

You all know how I love sharing Joshua Johnson's videos.  I watch every one that comes along on Facebook and track down others on Youtube.  All are great but some are a must, like this virtual cache in Blue Earth, Minnesota.

Any of you who have tuned into Joshua's vids know that this man has more energy and enthusiasm that any dozen kids I know.

Watch and see how the location gets kinda strange with the presence of the Johnson family.

You are oh so right, Joshua.  This is a great virtual.

Joshua Johnson At The Zoo

Everybody has those favorite things in life.  One of mine is zoos.  Something that I've enjoyed lately is the videos that Joshua Johnson makes about Geocaching.   What a fun combination this is.

So here is his latest posted on Facebook.  You're gonna see a couple of neat animals and something else.  You will see how much his kids have grown lately.  Amazing and oh so cute.

National Dance Day

Some people can dance and others can Geocache.  But can they do both?  Since today is National Dance Day, I have been searching for that video that proves that they can.  Certainly, from the cachers that I have seen dance -  well, I have a difficult time saying that I can truly call it dancing.  If any cacher out there wants to prove me wrong, please do and send me a little video as proof.  I will be more than happy to post if you will allow.

Here is what I have found to this point.

Here is Spindoc Bob in his ongoing compilation of dancing at some of his finds around the country and overseas.   Well - we'll give him a '10' for enthusiasm and creativity.

Then I was lucky enough to find our dear friend, Joshua Johnson, doin' a little dancing with his family and friends.  Here we have Mayberryman and Gilby heading out to find 9 FTF and the well deserved victory dance.

You have seen what I have found - you be the judge.  And let me know.

Here's a Geocaching Challenge for ya - find a geocacher who can really dance.  What a fun competition that would be.  For myself, I will stick to the search of swag.

Here is his coverage of the WWFM IX in Minneapolis MN. There were 111 people at the record breaking flash mob. The flashmob was initiated by Sonny and Sandy at the Podcacher podcast.

Guest Writers Welcome

In the beginning, that would be the blog beginning, my goal was to post a couple times a week and also to have guest writers.  I have very little caching experience so I am limited with my stories.  The gypsy in me want to be on the road every month traveling and hunting down new caches.  But, not quite able to do that, just yet.

Much to my surprise, I am not Super Woman. I have a business to run and other sites to maintain, a family that consist of sibling, kids, grand kids, great grand baby, grand dogs, a home and a garden and a few friends, etc.
  - and no matter how hard I try, I can not make my days 48 hours long.  Believe me, I have been trying.  So I went in search of guest to share their experiences and a few
have come through.  you can look forward to some great
stories and videos.

To start with - I want to introduce you to Joshua Johnson, also known as Mayberryman in the caching world.  I met him through my niece who connected with him through Facebook.  I have yet to meet Joshua in person but from what I can see from his profile, he is a super guy.  He takes the entire family, including three young kids, on regular caching adventures.  You will see from his future videos that he lives life, and caching, with great enthusiasm.

 Introducing Joshua Johnson
His pics and vids are worth a thousand words, so that is what i will share, mostly.   And that is what I will start with - a typical pic from his Facebook and the link to one of his vids.  ENJOY !
Spooky Night Geocache-
"This was one of the final caches I found to complete the 366 calendar day challenge, before leap day. The cache just happened to be a night cache. It was a little spooky as I was in the dark looking for reflective tacks in the woods."
